Utsumi Orchard in Setagaya starts selling Setagaya grown Vegetables at the US Embassy Commissary store in Tokyo

by Risa Kamio

On July 29, 2023, the connection between Arlington and Setagaya led to a new project to sell "Setagaya Sodachi" vegetables grown by farmers in Setagaya at the supermarket in the U.S. Embassy's compound. We were worried about how many customers would show up on the first day, but the turnout exceeded our expectations.

Everyone was delighted to see the fresh vegetables that Mr. Utsumi of Utsumi Orchard harvest on the shelves of the store. The event was a great success, with visitors surprised that vegetables were grown in Tokyo and appreciative that they were available.

We plan to sell them once a week from next week onward.
