Despite the challenge of on-going COVID and lockdown around the country, SJA decided to organize the second Japan Day online on March 27 and 28. SETCOM organized a segment introducing Setagaya to the audience.
Setagaya segment of Japan Day consisted of a PowerPoint presentation by SETCOM co-chair Stephanie Benefield, Story Time of “I am Tama, Lucky Cat” inspired by Manekineko of Gotokuji in Setagaya, showcasing videos of Setagaya students introducing Setagaya, excerpts of Godzilla, and performance by a Taiko Group in Setagaya. It was also simulcasted via Facebook live.
SJA’s online Japan Day event was also mentioned in Washington Post as part of Sakuramatsuri online events.
