Arlington Residents visit Setagaya

by Matt McKinstry

On July 15 and 16, Arlington residents, Matt McKinstry (currently in Tokyo) and Yoshimi Muto visited Setagaya’s various stakeholders, thanks to coordination by Setagaya Council Member, Ms. Risa Kamio. They visited Engei High School, the sister school of ACC Arlington Career Center.  The original Dog Wood tree which was gifted by Washington DC as a reciprocity gift of Cherry trees from Japan was still standing at the garden of Engei HS.

Last surviving Dog Wood tree from 105 years ago.

They visited Crossing Setagaya, a center open to public and displays various information relating to international activities in Setagaya.  They discussed possible poster exhibition about Arlington County.

Then they visited Temple University which moved recently to Setagaya.  The University was very supportive of the effort for the partnership with Arlington and Setagaya.
