SJA hosts Japanese Universities Information Session at Arlington Public Library

On Thursday, April 3rd, SJA hosted a Japanese Universities Information Session at Arlington Public Library.  This was the third such event this school year, and this time we were so fortunate that all presenters participated in-person!

This info session featured Guest Speaker Hiroshi Ando, Education Counsellor from the Embassy of Japan; representatives from Ritsumeikan University and Kyoto University of Advanced Science (KUAS); and an American grad student who recently graduated from a Japanese university.

After Mr. Ando gave a general overview of how and why to study in Japan, Ms. Takamatsu of Ritsumeikan and Mr. Takeda of KUAS provided in-depth explanations of their English-medium undergraduate programs with the packed audience.  Finally, Ms. Mariana Salas, a graduate of the Ritsumeikan-American Universities Joint Degree Program, shared her experience going to Japan from this area and studying in a Japanese university.

Even after the official program was over, many interested students and parents lined up to ask questions to the presenters.  It was an information-packed one and a half hours, and we hope that after the program the audience felt the idea of studying in Japan much more realistic.
