Children enjoyed creating Halloween figures with SJA’s origami table at O-en Fall Festival!

Scary faces, funny faces, smiley faces…children at SJA’s origami table had so much fun creating paper jack-o’-lanterns, ghosts, cats, and bats. The faces they drew on the origami figures were all unique and creative!
On October 22, SJA set up an origami table at the O-en Fall Festival at Langley High School in McLean, VA. Children came to the table constantly, so we thank all the volunteers who were helping out. Some children folded all four figures, some took the time to draw elaborate faces, and one girl made more than a dozen bats! SJA’s events are generally aimed to introduce Japanese language and culture to non-Japanese people, but it was wonderful to meet so many children from Japan or who were raised in the US by Japanese parent(s). Most of these children are fluent in Japanese, and they seem to be growing up in the US feeling strong and positive and enjoying the diversity of cultures.
