SETCOM table at SJA’s Spring Festival (Boroichi)

by Mine Sasaguri

SJA organized its first Spring Festival on May 22, 2022. The event celebrated Japanese culture with a focus on martial arts, and organized a “boroichi” flea market. Featured martial arts included aikido, kyudo, karate and judo in a special outdoor exhibition. Taiko performance was beautifully organized by the Taiko club of Thomas Jefferson High School in Fairfax, Virginia.  Around 300 people and 50 volunteers attended this event.

Boroichi is the oldest and largest flea market in Setagaya, Japan.  SETCOM table was featured at Boroichi in Arlington and attracted many visitors curious about Setagaya, checking out new and used items for fundraising for SETCOM.

This event was also reported in Setagaya Machinaka Tourism Mail Magazine.
