Arlington SETCOM Chair visits Setagaya

by Mine Sasaguri

Following the sister high school signing between ACC and Engei High School, SETCOM Chair, Mine Sasaguri visited several stakeholder organizations in Setagaya in July 2019: Engei High School, Setagaya Public Corporation for Industrial & Tourism Promotion, and Toshin Development Co.Ltd..

Since Setagaya became a host town for American athletes in the Tokyo Olympics, a new 'Exchange Promotion Department' was established in Setagaya Public Coporation. We discussed creating local English materials for foreign visitors. Following the DC Cherry Blossom Festival, a 'Pink Tie Party' was held on March 30, 2019, with about 100 participants. We talked about future exchanges with the United States, simultaneous events with DC Sakuramatsuri, and more. Additionally, we were briefed on Setagaya's homestay program and manufacturing events. Going forward, we agreed to showcase Setagaya's materials at events in Arlington and to continue exchanging for mutual PR.
